“The technique used in my paintings is layering text and paint upon text; words and paint, words and paint, and more words and paint. Over the years, I have learned colors and words evoke different moods from deep down. Quotes, music, proverbs, certain words, cities, and pop phrases have always lingered in my mind. I paint what is in my head. I paint from what I hear on the radio. I paint from what I read in books, billboards, and in the subway. My technique is unique, and my use of color enhances the textual message. I am finished painting a piece when my thought process is complete.” |
